Dining around St Martin/ St Maaten

Just a fun discovering all the beaches of St Martin/ St Maarten so is finding all the wonderful places to eat. The island has every kind of food you could possibly want to eat, from Creole to Gourmet French cuisine, elegant to casual. The possibilities are endless.

MA TI - best green beans I ever had

We enjoyed a few lunches on the beach at Calie's Place Friar's Bay where they have good BBQ ribs, fresh fish, and grilled chicken.

We went to Grand Case and tried 3 different French restaurants which were all uniquely different.
We had a lovely time at L'Auberge Gourmande, a small little creole house in the center of Grand Case. I had Foie gras which was pan-sautéed and served with caramelized pears in a Sauterne wine reduction sauce to start and it was perfect.  The main course we both had the Filet with morel mushroom sauce. It was outstanding.

We had another superb meal at Le Pressoir. The foie gras tasting plate is worth every mouth full, 4 different foie gras. Our favorite was the foie gras creme brulee.

Our favorite is La Villa. We ate here last time we were here and if more time would go back again. We just love the atmosphere, food, and the owners are lovely people. We had dinner the night when carnival started so not only was it a fabulous meal but really fun as well. The filet of beef with a foie gras sauce is just delicious.

We are ready to start cooking french again after all these wonderful meals.

We also tried some places around Simpson Bay within walking distance of where we were staying.
Izi Pasta Bar where the pasta is made fresh and you pick the type of pasta you want along with a sauce. It was very good.

Pineapple Pete is a fun spot with good food. They have great wings & really good lobster thermidor.

Simpson Bay yacht club is right at the bridge where the yachts go through to the marina.  It is a great place to get a bit to eat or drink while watching them pass by.

Skip Jack's has great fresh seafood. We called ahead for reservations and got the best table in the house right outside on the corner overlooking the marina.

Our favorite in Simpson Bay is Panlaan Thai on the Bay. Great Thai food full of flavor and one of the best Thai places we have ever been to. The beef stir fry & Pad Thai was superb, in fact so we got take out one night. I will say the hot is really hot. This is on the list anytime we visit St Martin.

Karacater is right on the beach at the one end of Simpson Bay. The food is wonderful, the atmosphere great, live music but the service is very very slow, almost non existent.

One night we went to Maho and had an absolutely fabulous dinner at Bajatzu Bar & Grill. They describe it as a sexy New York steak house and I would have to agree. Great Martini's & the grilled lobster, just fabulous.

Our discovery for the week was a place we just saw a sign, live lobsters and stopped in. What we found was a wonderful little french restaurant right on the beach, Ma Ti beach restaurant. We had 2 meals there and both were wonderful.

Plus the island has the most wonderful french pastry shops. Sarafina in Margot was a favorite stop for breakfast or to pick up lunch to pack to the beach.

There are so many places to try on the island I look forward to a return trip to try more and go back to some of our favorites.
