Buenas Dias

Waking up to the sounds of the rainforest is something that once you experience it just draws you back, at least for myself. Staying here at Big Tree with everything open not only can you hear all that surrounds you but you can just pop your head up from the pillow and see it.
The howlers start first thing in the morning, about 4:30am.

Sometimes they sound far away and other times they are very close. If you have never heard them before it can be a bit unnerving at first when you hear the roar. They sound big and fierce.

Next comes the parrots who are very noisy.

There are many Toucan's that like the trees right next to the house. They call back in forth to each other.
There are many collared Aracari that also like the tree just outside my bedroom.

The Great Green Macaw's have returned to the area and they stop by every morning in the tree right in front of the house.

You know the sound long before you hear them. We have had as many as 8 at one time in the tree.

This all happens before I am even out of bed and had my coffee. What a great way to wake up each day.

One of the many reasons I love it here in Costa Rica.

Oh and for a added treat, one of the cats brought me a mouse to the bedroom.
