Dominical, Costa Rica

The drive from San Jose to Dominical was very easy compared to what I remember. The highway is all paved all the way down and no OMG bridges. Things sure have changed in 9 years.

The next couple of days we are staying at Canto Del Mar Villa which overlooks Dominicalito beach.

It is a spectacular view and great sunsets.

We settled in quickly enjoying the pool,

 the views, and the AC.

As much as I love sleeping open air it was nice to have a few nights out of the heat.  We have been traveling for over 2 weeks now and this feels like a little break.

The tree out of the balcony has many birds.

We spent the next couple of days exploring the areas beaches.

The beach we over look is Domincalito beach with is a long stretch of beach. The waves are pretty gentle there and a great place to learn how to surf when it is high tide.

The problem is it’s a rocky bottom and not knowing were the rocks are can be a problem.  That goes to same for swimming you really need to be careful of the rocks. It is a great place to watch the sunset.

Dominical beach is where all the surfers are. It is not the prettiest of beaches but the waves are good and it has a sandy bottom. We found some beach chairs to rent and an umbrella for $10.00 for the day. The sun is very strong here and you need shade. The sand gets so hot you need to wear your flip flops down the water so as not to burn your feet. It was lots of fun to watch all the surfers. I thought about taking a lesson but later in the trip.

The town center of town is just off the beach. It is basically one road with a few shops, restaurants, places to stay, and surf camps.

Once a week traffic jam caused by trash truck.

Town is old school surf town.
