For a few years now we been
talking about going to the islands in Panama known as Bocas del Toro. It got
our attention for many reasons, beaches, nature, rain forest, culture, snorkeling,
surfing, and from what we have read a very laid back atmosphere which we love.
The islands are located on the Caribbean side of Panama right at the border of
Costa Rica and Panama. Since it is a rainforest it does rain most months. March
has been said to be the sunniest. We will be finding out very soon if that
holds true.
We will be flying into Panama City and then transferring
to another airport where we will take a small plane to Bocas del Toro. The
flight is about 55 minutes.
Our first few nights will be on
the Isla Colon in the town of Bocas del Toro. We will be staying in a waterfront
cabin at KoKo Resort. The resort got my attention for its location, owners, and
unique description on its web page.
After a few nights there we are
going to the Isa Bastimentos where we are staying at two different places. The
first place is Eclype de Mar Acqua Lodge in an over water bungalow. The lodge
is Eco friendly and surrounded by 6.5 acres of rain forest. Lots
of Nature.
From there we stay on the Isa Bastimentos but move to the
Red Frog Resort. We rented a Condo with private pool & a washer &
dryer. Red Frog caught my attention for the beach and the rain forest that surrounds
the area.
At the end of the trip we fly back into Panama City for 1
night before returning home.
Lots more to follow.
