Playa Samara

The front yard
We picked Samara after reading it was a quiet, mostly undeveloped little beach town with a great swimming beach. This sounded just what we were looking to spend a week and explore the other beach towns to the north & south of Samara.

We rented a house on the beach in a mostly Tico neighborhood, walking distance to town.
The house was originally designed as 2 units a upper & lower house but the owner decided it was best to rent as one. It was a little funky as both downstairs & upstairs were pretty much the same, 1 bedroom, bathroom, living area with full kitchen, & porch. Both have their own entrance.

Great for 2 couples or a family.

We basically lived upstairs and used the downstairs during the day. The porch was great place to relax in the shade after a dip in the ocean.

The only thing that was a bit of a pain was all the barred doors you had to lock & unlock moving from upstairs to downstairs. Apparently theft is on the raise not just here but all around in Costa Rica. Even the last place had a security system.

If something is left out or in view it is fair game.  That goes for flip flops too.
We were told many times not to leave anything in the car even if you think it's well hidden. Not to leave anything unattended on the beach. I get this you need to be smart no different then any other place. I think it's become a little over kill the warnings but better safe then sorry.
The bars and doors are necessary since this is not a gated community with a guard like so many of the newer places being built up and down the coast line.
Even the locals have barred windows & doors, less temptation for the few bad apples of the world.
This is a Tico town where locals and tourist come together to enjoy the beach & all that the town has to offer.

Arriving on a Saturday the beaches were full of families enjoying the beach for the weekend.
We picked well.

We have the best location for watching the sunset over the ocean right from our porch. Loving both the house and Samara.
