Yachats known as the "Gem of the Oregon Coast.

The next place we are staying on the trip down the coast is in the town of Yachats (mile 164.4). It is a small little town, population 703 located in the Central Coast along the Yachats River.

Before arriving Yachats we passed through the town of Newport Beach which is a large town compared to where we have been so far. Everything you want is located there. I enjoyed visiting the  the historic district of Nye Beach, which dates back to the 1800's.
Yaquina Bay Bridge

Yaquina Bay Lighthouse is located just passed Newport beach.

It is the second oldest light house along the coast and the only wooden one with living quarters attached. It was first lit in 1871.

Next stop the Overleaf Lodge which is right on the ocean. It is a wonderful resort, great location with many walking trails, and amazing views.

The main area in Overlook Resort

Luna Sea Food house is the local fish market and now has a new restaurant. Everything is fresh.

Fish and chips is the house special.

Town is a great place to just stroll around.

 Another incredible sunset.

Dinner we went to Ona in the heart of town.

We started with Oregon Dungeness crab dip made with Tillamook cheddar cheese served with sourdough bread along with Manila clams. Both were outstanding. Wonderful place to have a meal. Dessert we tried the S'more cake which was delicious.
