Our Last Furthur Show, Sunday Sept. 22, Red Rocks, Morrison CO

There are shows and there are shows that just are magical. Last nights Furthur show at Red Rocks was just that, magical. While looking for seats we first stop along the front row but knew these must be reserved for someone. Sunshine Becker was greeting some people when we walked by. I said hello and got a great big hug. Nice way to start off the night.

They opened the first set with Samson & Delilah, always seems like a good one for a Sunday night.Foolish Heart, Black Throated Wind, Brown Eyed Women, The Music Never Stopped (always love hearing that), New Speedway Boogie, and Deal.

At some point during the first set the rain started and the wind picked up just a bit but no one missed a beat. Then it was time for their break.

Finally break was over, the rain had stopped, and Furthur was back on stage opening the
second set with Weather Report Suite into Let it Grow which was awesome. I heard weather report a lot this past week & really come to love the song. Branford Marsalis joined in the band on stage during Let it Grow. We had seen him play with the Grateful Dead at Madison Square Garden in the 90's and this was another rare treat. They than went into Eyes of the World one of George's all time favorite which was great.

The rest of the set just kept getting better, Eyes into Dark Star into the The Other One into Morning Dew. Then 3 of my favorites, Help, Slip, Frank. What a great concert. It was so fitting that they ended the final night in Red Rocks with Brokedown Palace.
As they played and we all sang along I just took a mental photo in my head of this moment as for us it will most likely be the last time we see Furthur. We are not going to any other shows this year and with the announcement of their hiatus in 2014, I think this could be the last show for us. It's been many a great show seeing the Grateful Dead, The Dead, Furthur, Jerry, & Rat Dog. We were very fortunate to be able to come out here to this beautiful place to see our favorite band playing the songs we so love.

Fare you well, fare you well
I love you more than words can tell
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
To rock my soul
