The quest for Beach Chairs in Costa Rica

Growing up in the Northeast part of the United States, spending summers at New Jersey shore I have become used to a beach chair.  Everyone has a beach chair along with all sorts of other items people think they need for a day at the beach, umbrellas, beach toys, blankets, towels, food, drinks, tents, radio, boogie boards, now all loaded up in a beach cart to get all your stuff there.

Traveling around the world I have noticed most places people come to the beach with very little & do not use chairs rather sit on a towel or sarong. Sure many are traveling so do not have all the items but even locals do not pack with them what we in New Jersey think we need for a day at the beach.

Costa Rica has endless beaches and most of them very secluded. There are a few beaches where you can find lounge chairs to rent or a few beach bars that have them as long as you are purchasing food or drinks. The majority of folks just sit on a tree stump in the shade.

We thought since we are going to be here so long wouldn't it be wonderful to have beach chairs.

After flying in and getting our car the first stop was Walmart. We needed a few things and was hoping to find some chairs.
No luck but we did pick up a fan ($22.00 not bad). It is a new item that now gets purchased on long trips when we can find one.

We did find lounge chairs to rent on Playa Carmen, $20.00 for 2 chairs & an umbrella.

Also Banana Beach in Santa Teresa has chairs you can use  if you are enjoying food/ drinks.

We liked Habanero Beachfront Mex - Grill in Santa Teresa. A great spot to enjoy a pitcher of Margarita's and watch the surf.

But that gets expensive plus we want the freedom to explore different beaches and be just a little comfortable.
Reading one of the local magazines there was a advertisement for a local hardware store,  in the town of Cobano with a picture of a folding chair. The ride takes about 30 minutes to get there on unpaved roads but worth going to take a look.

They only had 1 but it was perfect for George. In the super mega food store in Cobano I found one I could use. They were not priced to bad and we will be using them daily.
Time to go to the beach and try them out!!

Happiness is a beach chair in the shade of a palm tree.

It does make me want to do a cartwheel.
