Off to our first bushcamp, Kapamba in South Luangwa National Park, Zambia

After 2 nights and a action packed day at Mfuwe Lodge it was time to move to our first bushcamp, Kapamba.

The Bushcamp company has 6 different camps located in the south area of South Luangwa National Park. They are the only camps in that part of the park. We have no real idea what we will experience but very excited to be park of nature in this unique setting.

Our driver and guide for the next 3 days is Misek. He picked us up at 7:30am for our 3 1/2 hour game drive to camp.

The drive was beautiful and we saw some much.
Impala's and Mongoose

Love the look on this warthogs face.

An African Pygmy Kingfisher who just caught something. If you look closely you can see it in it's beak.

A Lilac Breasted Roller

What looks like rocks are Hippo's

Helmeted Guineafowl

Once he saw us he felt the need to come get a closer look. He came a strutting over, gave us a good look, and off he went.

Buffalo Crossing

A Mother Baboon and her baby.

We did get a chance to stop and see one of the other camps, Chindeni.

Chindeni is a true tent camp, with 4 large platform tents.

The views are spectacular.

When we arrived at Kapamba we were greeted by the whole camp.

As we got out of the jeep we were given some juice, a cold wash cloth to freshen up, and each member of camp greeted us with a hand shake and introduced themselves. It really made you feel welcome.

Kapamba Camp is right on the Kapamba River and has 4 chalets and a main area.

Each of the Chalets are very private.

The front is completely open but does have wrought-iron shutters that are closed at night to keep out unwanted guests.

There is even a sunken plunge pool.

Every chalet has a view of the river.

Once we were settled, it was time for brunch.

What a view, watching Elephants from the main deck at Kapamba.

What a wonderful way to spend a afternoon, sitting and watching Elephants go by.
