Dining on the North & East side of Grand Cayman

Grand Cayman is known for its culinary dinning experience & after trying a few I can understand why.  While staying in the north side we are trying those around the area. One fun place is right next door, Kaibo bar & grill serving delicious food right on the beach. Nothing better then eating with your toes in the sand. I had one of their famous dishes cayman crispy fried fish with coconut curry sauce served with rice n beans, corn on the cob, & mixed greens which was great. Tuesday nights they have a beach BBQ with live music making it the spot to be.
Another great spot on the East side is Tukka.  The chef is Australian combining down under taste with a Caribbean flair.

We had lunch sitting outside overlooking the sea & watching the Frigate birds.

Tried 2 of their pizzas, grilled shrimp with sweet peppers, burnt Lemon  & Thai curry sauce and the other jerked  Chicken with  arugula, avocado and mango papaya chutney. Both really good.

The Lighthouse is a wonderful dining experience. It's located on the waters edge and you can dine outside on the dock right over the water.

There are so many wonderful items on the menu to choose from it was hard to pick. We started with Miss Nell's conch chowder that was one of the best soups I have ever had. It had so much flavor. For the main course I had he Seafood Curry, lobster, scallops, shrimp, mango chutney over jasmine rice which was delicious. Fabulous evening from start to finish.

By far our favorite place was Upstairs at Kaibo.

It was fine dining in a spectacular setting, overlooking the beach & water. The food was outstanding, every bit full of flavors.

George had the 5 course tasting menu, which I sampled some of.
Fresh soup shooter, zucchini, rosemary
Caramelised sweet onion tarte, goat’s cheese, baby arugula, pecan nut dressing
Baked grouper, peanut pistachio, bok choi, lemon grass cured ginger foam
Chargrilled C.A.B. striploin steak, sautéed French beans, confit shallots, crispy applewood smoked bacon, duck fat roasted potatoes, sauce diable
Vahlrona chocolate pot, white chocolate mousse, sable biscuit

I had the lobster with pan fried gnocchi & pancetta which was excellent.

The bar has a unique collection of rare rums from around the Caribbean, hand selected by owner and rum enthusiast Daniel Petts.  After the meal we enjoyed a flight of Rum. We sipped 3 different rare rums, Appleton Estate 12 yr old, Ron Zacapa 23 yr old, and Pyrat XO.  My favorite was the Pyrat XO, had an orange taste very similar to grand  marnier.
 Great dining experience.

Another wonderful spot for breakfast, lunch, & dinner is Over the Edge. As you can guess it gets its name because the place sits right at the edge of land overlooking the ocean. It's a casual spot with great food & friendly service. The prices are good here as well. The place is crowed for every meal so reservations is a good idea.
