LBI Restaurant Challenge

Memorial Day is approaching and we are back full time here in Long Beach Island.  One of the many things we love to do is eat and the island certainly has many places to choose from. This summer we are going to see how many of the restaurants we can try. There are a few new ones and many that have been here for years but we have never tried. Sort of eat our way from one end of the island to the other. Its a tasty challenge I am up for. Thankfully I joined the Ocean club to help with this task.

Last week we started with Augie’s which used to be Dock Road Crab Shack. We have been to the Crab Shack twice before and were very disappointed in the food but thought with the changeover maybe give it one more try. All that has changed is the name and now they serve meat. We went because it was advertised they had Prime Rib and 2 of our gang wanted Prime Rib. When we got our food what they were served was not Prime Rib but more of a grilled Delmonico steak.  We told the server this was not correct and the food was returned. A moment later the same guy returned with the same cut of meat and told us this is how they serve Prime Rib here. At this point they ate it but were not happy as the whole reason we went was for Prime Rib. I had lobster stuffed with crab meat, which was just warm and under it the lobster was cold.
After we were finished the meal the girl who took our order came over and apologized for serving the wrong dinner. We were a bit shocked at this point as the guy clearly knew as we did that it wasn't Prime Rib but instead of fixing the problem he lied to us.
This combined with bad food on 3 visits not a place I would recommend or return to.

At least we made up for it a few nights later at La Spiaggia. We have been here in Long Beach Island since 2003 and cannot believe it's taken us this long to try this restaurant. Last night we finally went and it was outstanding. The service was great and the food was delicious. Every dish was full of flavor. I had the shrimp wrapped in prosciutto served in a brandy cream sauce which was wonderfully delicious. When I want a great meal La Spiaggia will be on the top of the list.
It is pricey but if you want a great meal its well worth it. It's a BYOB as well.

I am open for suggests of where to try next.
