Panama Canal Tour

We aren't don't usually like to take group tours but since this is our first time here and driving looks like New York City but with no named Streets we thought a tour would be in our best interested. Tranviatour tours started at 9:00am - 1:30pm. As it turned out no one else showed up giving us a private tour which was perfect.

Our first stop was MiraFlores locks on the Panama Canal. We skipped the museum & movie to go which a automobile carrier can through the locks. It is pretty amazing to see how it's done.
One of the things I found interesting is the cost to the ships for using he canal & it is paid in cash. This carrier paid $250,000.00 to go one way through the Canal.
It takes about 10 minutes per lock with 2 locks to go through here. The water raises 27 ft above sea level.

You can see how high the water level is on the one side of the lock.

See the water level start to change

Once through that lock they start the same process for the next lock
