Tillamook Coast, Oregon

Leaving Cannon Beach (mile 28) we drove through the Tillamook Coast passing through the little towns of Manzanita, Nehalem (population 200), Wheeler (poplulation 400),

Rockaway Beach, small fishing village of Garibaldi, and Bay City.

All very unique little towns set in beautiful surroundings.

The scenery is beautiful.

There are so many places to stop along the way it was hard to do everything.

We did make a quick stop at the Tillamook cheese Factory. It was free and self guided tours just our kind. We basically used the rest rooms & tried all the free simple and out the door we went.

Next was the Blue Heron french cheese company. There were lots of things to simple there, even wines. We ended up with 2 kinds of brie and a case of wine.

Now that we had some wine and little snack we took the Three Cape Loop (10 mile loop off of 101)  which took us to the next Lighthouse on the list.

Cape Meares Lighthouse which is the shortest lighthouse in Oregon. It first illuminated in 1890.

Cape Meares is also the place to see the Octopus tree.

The tree is 250 - 300 years old. It was a nice hike to both the tree and the lighthouse.

The only problem was the hike and the loop took longer then excepted and it was now way passed lunch, the wine & cheese snack was good for a while. Pelican Pub in Pacific city would be the prefect stop but everyone had that idea and it was too crowded.

We drove to the next town of Neskowin and had a wonderful lunch at the Cafe at Hawks Creek.

Next stop Depoe Bay (mile 127.2) and where we will spend the next couple of nights.
