Going off the Grid - Sierpe, Costa Rica

The next part of the trip we are staying in the Osa Peninsula at 2 different locations. The first on the Sierpe River. We have rented a house you need to take a boat from the town of Sierpe to a boat dock in the middle of nowhere and then walk to the house. There are no food stores outside of town, no restaurants other than town and the only way to and from town is by boat.  All that being said we needed to plan meals for the next 4 nights.  After checking out of our Villa in Dominical we stopped at what George has deemed the best food store in all off Costa Rica, The BM in Uvita.

It has everything we want, wine, good looking vegetables, fruit, meats, chicken, and even French brie.

The drive from Dominical to Sierpe was once again surprisingly easy, paved roads all the way down and the GPS took us right there. It is always nice when I do not have to be in charge of directions.
We are meeting Guillermo at the office in town to take us to the house.

Once we arrived we went over a few things we would like to do over the next couple of days. Guillermo gave us a few suggestions and said he will take care of making all the arrangements.
We than loaded up a wheel burrow and took all our stuff down to the boat dock. I feel a bit bad having so much stuff but we were told to buy enough stuff for our stay.

The boat ride is about 10 minutes down the Sierpe River where they let us off in what appears just thick rainforest.

The house we are staying is part of a small community called Sierpe Del Pacifico. When I say community it’s more like 20 lots with about 4 house built so far, 2 boat docks, and hiking trails. I am pretty sure we are the only people around for miles.

Now for the walk to the house, it’s basically all uphill, a steep 231 elevation climb in a short distance. We only had to carry our backpacks, they took everything else.

The house is incredible, all done in wood, everything is open but with screens, and stunning views.

There are 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and

  plenty of living space.

We are greeted by the Toucan.

Time to catch our breath from the hike and settle in.
