Our next house is down the road but still here in Puerto
Viejo. We wanted to experience being lower in the rainforest instead of on top
like we were at Big Tree. The house also has a pool which we thought would be
great in the hot afternoons. We are also able to get bikes and ride from the
house to the beaches instead of using a car.
Casa Ambar is home for the next few days. The house is set
up nice with 2 bedrooms on either side with a nice size living area in the
center that opens up to the pool. The house is all screened and gets nice
breezes throughout.
Our first night we had some mishaps with the shower flooding
and when we came home from dinner no power. Luck the rental agent gave us an
app to contact her and both problems were solved quickly. We did have some fun
with getting to use our head lamps while we had no power.
Our last morning at the house we woke to the howlers, 4:30am
and they were very close. They went on for a very long time, finally as the sun
was coming up Marj and I went out to see if we could find them. They were still
chatting away in the trees and it sounded like the ones just behind the house
but we couldn’t see them. I got my coffee and was sitting down when I saw the
branch move.
Sure enough there they were right in front of us. There were lots of young ones playing with each other, swinging from tree to tree.
The older ones seemed disinterested and just sat around watching.
We watched them for a good 2 hours as they moved trees coming closer to the house. They gave us a great show for our last morning here in Puerto Viejo.

Car leaves 8:00am for San Jose.
