Life on board the Rhapsody

The Rhapsody is a 72ft sailing yacht & our home for the next week. The captain of the Rhapsody is Don.  He is an easy going guy yet takes the responsibilities seriously. He is a fantastic captain.

Heather is the first mate/ chief who amazed us daily with her flair for flavors serving us delicious meals.

One of the first things you leave behind as you climb on board is your shoes. For me, barefoot for a week is my kind of vacation. Next is a tour & picking of state rooms. There is one large master with king bed & 2 smaller cabins with queens beds, all with bathrooms.
The salon is very large with a table to seat 8, sofa, desk, & bar. There is plenty of space. We felt comfortable & at home right away.

Days begin with coffee & watching the sun rise over one of the many islands there are here in the BVI depending on where you are anchored. At 8:30am Heather serves a healthy breakfast.  Each morning it's something different combining hot items, fruits, pastries, & breads.  The spices & fresh ingredients she uses really make her dishes tasty.

Around 9:00am Don sets sails for a new spot. We talk at breakfast with him as to what we want to do for the day & he takes care of the rest.

While under sail we enjoy the views, read, nap, & just relax, chill, or limin as they say here. Life is simple while here.
After we anchor we go ashore to a beach or to one of the many beach bars to try the special drink.

We swim off the boat or snorkel.

Around 1:00pm we start to smell Heather preparing something wonderful for us for lunch. The selections have been great. Our favorites were the avocado salad with spicy shrimp & rice, the flat bread pizza, & pasta salad.

Afternoons are spent on the beach, snorkeling, relaxing in the sun on board, and of course a nap. Before you know it it's happy hour. Some days we go shore but most days it's on board. Of course no happy hour is complete without a little snack.

Just sitting taking in all the beauty that surrounds you here is the entertainment. Watching the pelicans fly by or a sea turtle swimming. Sometimes you see the fish jumping in the water or you are watching other sail boats going by.

Looking out over the water with its different colors of  blues & turquoise is very tranquil.
The sky as the sunsets for the day the last bit of rays dancing on the water while the clouds turn shades of pink & purple then to gray as the sun disappears for the night. This for me never gets old.

Once dark about 7:30pm  it's time for dinner.  Once again Heather prepares us first a appetizer, black bean soup & spring rolls were a few of our favorites.  Then our main meal & dessert. We enjoyed her paring of foods as well as the flavors. Her mothers zucchini pie was so delicious even our meat lover enjoyed a vegetarian dinner that night.

The rest of the night you spend going ashore to one of the lively spots for music or just enjoy under the stars on board.

Soon it's time for bed to rest up to do it all over again.
