We walked around Fisherman's Wharf, having fresh crab & lobster for lunch from one of the many street side vendors.
We had an Irish coffee or 2 at the famous Buena Vista.
Went to Pier 39 show the Marina Band play along with watching the resident sea lions.
Of course no trip would be complete without a ride on the cable car. We took it from the Wharf to downtown & back.
Little hint for Willie Wild Sparks, do not wait in the long line at the start of the line, Market & Powell.
They do not fill the cars, go 2 blocks up and catch it from there. You will save an hour.
Dim Sum in the heart of Chinatown at the Great Eastern Restaurant. We got there before noon and it there was already a 30 minute wait. It was well worth it.
Dine in North Beach (little Italy) at a little the most fantastic place, Restorante Franchino. It was so good we had dinner here twice.
The first night when we arrive Giuseppina greeted us at the door as if we were family, showed us to the table, and then told us all about the fresh homemade specials they had. We went we her recommendations, starting with a Antipasti tasting platter,
the house special pappardelle with sausage, and ending with homemade pumpkin tiramisu and Chocolate cannoli. Even the wine she selected for us was a perfect fit for the meal.
Good authentic Italian food. Our second visit we we had the veal Parmesan & eggplant Parmesan, both were delicious
We went to Haight Asbury to see the Grateful Dead house. We had been there years ago but I felt the need to go one last time. My brother had told me about some skeptics in the sidewalk but most had worn off.
In order to work all these wonderful foods off, we walked and walked. We even walked the Golden Gate Bride. We had biked over, driven over, so I thought it was a good idea to walk it as well.
After the 6 mile round trip walk from the Marina, up the hills, across the bridge, and back again George said enough with the bridge. We have experienced it all the way around. Of course you could still fly over it or cruise under it.
Love this city by the bay. There is always something going on. We even got to see a parade. The Italian Heritage Parade came right along the wharf.
