Simpson Bay - Saba in the background |
What brings me here is the beaches, there are 34 and 12 snorkel sites. My goal is to hit all of them. We are staying on Simpson Bay, which is a long stretch of beach close to the airport. There are a few hotels & condo along the beach but you don't see many people which gives it a deserted feel. The views from the condo are wonderful, white sandy beach, waves crushing, sailboats, yachts, cruise ships going in & out of port, the island is Saba off to the distance, and beautiful sunsets. What more can you ask for?
Since it's our first day we wanted to do a little exploring and get a feel for the island once again. Off course that means I have to play navigator which is never a job I like or do well according to the driver. Our first stop was the village & beach of Grand-Case. The beach stretches the length of town and was great for a morning walk.

The rest of the day we spent at one of my favorite beaches in all of the Caribbean Friar's Bay. For me it has everything I want in a beach, no crowds, beautiful scenery, clear water, great snorkeling, friendly people, good walking beach, bar, & 2 restaurants. The Rastafarian restaurant serves up some great BBQ and host a full moon party which we will be here for later in the week.

That's 4 beaches down 30 to go.
