This morning we went out on the Tundra for another full day of sighting bears. It was sunny and 25 F. The guide took us over the same trails in hopes that we would see the same two bears that entertained us yesterday, but that did not happen. After an hour of driving over rough terrain we spotted a very large bear. He was a good distance away but with binoculars and cameras we had a good view of him. He was stretched out on top of a pile of kelp and eating it. Every so often he would shift his body around until he made a full circle
without getting up. Quite amazing. He would munch and yawn. After about an hour he finally stood up, turned around, gave us a polar bear "moon" and flopped back down to finish his snack.
We then moved on, even went through water that was 4ft deep in some areas.Quite a bumpy ride over stones.
On the way 2 more bears were spotted.
We stopped and ate another delicious lunch catered by the Gypsy Bakery. As we made our way back to the launch site we spotted more bears in the distance. Total of 7 bears for the day. It was a good day.
Back to town and had dinner at the Seaport Hotel. Then off to the airport for our 6:30 flight to
Winnipeg. Our trip to Churchill was exciting. Seeing the polar bears was an awesome experience.
Very Cool Jill
