Eat,Drink,Pura Vida

We have had some fantastic meals while here in Costa Rica.

Salsa Brava has wonderful views of the ocean while enjoying a cold Bavaria beer & some grilled fish.

Melbac is a 4 table Argentinean restaurant tucked away in the rainforest. Its husband & wife run, he does the grilling & she serves you. George had a Argentinean steak & I had a grilled filet that was outstanding along with scalloped potatoes.

Botanica Organica is a great place for breakfast & lunch. It's always lively and the food is delicious.  The French toast is yummy.

el Refugio Grill  has been by far our favorite spot. We have been there twice & both times the food has been fabulous. The owners are a lovely couple from Argentina who know how to do things right. Both times we had grilled skirt steak & grilled tuna that was cooked to perfection. Whatever he puts on both by way of seasonings really bring out the flavors. There are only 4 tables so reservations are needed. We got lucky our first time there but made a reservation last night. There was a power outage last night so we dined by candle light which only added to the whole experience.

Selvin was recommended to us by many people & we tried to eat there but got the feeling we weren't welcomed. We had stopped earlier in the day to reserve a table as it was Saturday night. We arrived at 7pm, the table was ready,we sat ordered a bottle of wine while looking over the menu. There were a few full tables but still plenty of empty ones. We ordered the Rondon, which is a local soup but we were told they were out of it. We ordered grilled shrimp & a grilled steak. She told us the grill was backed up it would be a 45 minute wait. 45 minutes to grill either of these 2 items, really? We could order something from the stove which didn't look appealing so we took our $20.00 bottle of wine & moved on.

We ended up at Pura Gula where we not only had a wonderful meal but some interesting company. A woman we met at the jaguar rescue joined us for some conversation. Pooh is from the isle of man and basically travels the world volunteering. She returns home to work once she needs money and than its off to the next place. This is her second time as a volunteer at the jaguar rescue & has been here 8 months. Pooh rolls her own cigarettes.  It was quit a night.

George waited in line to get a table

Bread & Chocolate is one of the most poplar spots for breakfast & lunch for good reason everything is delicious.  The crispy fried potatoes with jerk sauce is great.
I still forgot to get a brownie, good thing I still have time here for that.

El Dey Caribe is located right across from the ocean and had great thin crust pizza

Peace & love another good spot located across from the beach.

My favorite has been breakfast right here at villa Toucan.

This is Pura Vida.
